It was a perfect day and a great start to the Labor Day weekend.  There was not a cloud in the sky.  I DJ at Westover more often than any other place (we are on the preferred vendors list there), so I am quite familiar with the people, the layout and how things are done there.  Cocktail hour was out on the terrace overlooking the golf course.  I out a remote music setup out there so the guests could listen to music and bask in the sunshine.  Shortly before 6:30, all the guests moved over the the West Ballroom for the rest of the reception.

The parents and bridal party were introduced to the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," which is quite popular for an introduction song lately.  The bride and groom walked in to the classic "Beautiful Day" by U2. Their first dance was "Better Together" by Jack Johnson.  There was no bridal party dance, as is the case more and more.  The maid of honor delivered a heartfelt toast.  She told me beforehand she was a little nervous, but she did a great job.  The best man did a great job as well, telling some funny stories.

Towards the end of dinner, I introduced a surprise guest, the Philadelphia Eagles mascot Swoop.  I am very careful about surprises, since that is one of my selling points, but in this case, I knew the groom especially would love it.  In our planning meeting the conversation veered off into sports, where I found out that he was a huge Eagles fan.  The mother of the bride had contacted me the week of the wedding informing me that she arranged for Swoop to appear.  Man, talk about a really cool mother-in-law.

The guest were a lot of fun, and very lively.  There was a lot of dancing.  I started out playing some oldies then gradually progressed into current music as the night went along.  Toward the end of the night, I played a set of good rock dance songs, which this crowd really responded to.  After I played the last song, Journey's "Don't Stop Believing," everyone was yelling, "One More Song!"  All in all, a fantastic reception!

Here is a nice e-mail I received from the mother of the bride:

"Dear George:  Thank you so much for being a part of Sara and Chris's wedding day and making it great!! I have never seen so many people dance at a wedding before and you had a lot to do with it. They wanted a place with a big dance floor and thank God Westover had it!   I'm guessing Swoop was a hit, huh?????  I'm so happy it all worked out.  I am just sorry I did
not get to meet you....I started over to meet you about 5x and someone would grab me.  The day was a whirlwind and we only wish we could do it all over again."
Thanks again so much.
Beth Rendina
